All Progressives Congress National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole survived a major attempt to unseat him in Abuja on Friday.

It was the National Executive Committee meeting of the party held at the party’s secretariat, Zone 5 Abuja, the first meeting since after the 2019 presidential election won by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Those moving against Oshiomhole comprising serving and former governors had mobilised to move a motion of no-confidence in him. But there was no room to move the motion at the meeting.

President Buhari had set the tone for the NEC meeting with a speech which resonated well with the members. He told the meeting categorically he was not for a third term agenda.

He also spoke of the need for strict adherence to the party’s constitution and rules.

Smarting from the caucus meeting where some members were rooting to use the crisis in Edo State chapter of the party which pitted Oshiomhole against Governor Godwin Obaseki and in other states as well as some suspension and other wranglings within the party an alibi, some of the anti-Oshiomhole forces wanted to press for his suspension.

A motion moved at the caucus for the setting up of the reconciliation committee was to be brought up again.

But Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, saved the day when he pleaded that all such matters should be postponed till another day following which a motion for adjournment was moved and carried.

The anti-Oshiomhole no left with their tail in between their legs.
