Salary cut: FAAN commences payment of 50% balance
The Federal Airports of Nigeria (FAAN) has commenced the payment of the fifty per cent salaries balance for grade level 08 and above which was cut during last months payments
Daily Times investigation revealed that workers got the balance of their salaries last Friday while that of pensioners was being settled.
FAAN had last week promised to pay the 50 per cent balance of grade level 08 and above after paying every worker but this led to protest from the unions
The Nigerian Union of Pensioners (NUP) had last week given the management of FAAN seven days within which to balance the payment of their pensions or face industrial unrest
The FAAN pensioners secretary, Comrade Emeka Njoku had described the action as wicked as their members hardly survive with the little pension they were being paid.
Njoku, however, told this correspondent that FAAN has started payment but not all has been paid the 50 per cent pension balance.
Contacted, the general manager, corporate communications FAAN, Mrs Henrietta Yakubu explained that all workers have been paid their balance while pensioners will all get theirs this week.
