Aviation agencies commence skeletal operations
Following the beginning of the phase-one of the relaxation of lockdown by the federal government of Nigeria, various aviation parastatals as commercial vehicles operators have complied with Lagos state directives on conveying of passengers.
For instance, federal workers on grade level 14 and above were seen yesterday in the offices at various agencies in the aviation industry in Lagos as they settled down for business after the easing of the lockdown in the state by the Lagos state government.

In fact, the office of some senior staff at the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA)and the Accident Investigations Bureau (AIB) showed that senior management staff complied with the directives of the government.

Although some junior staff of the agency such as drivers and cleaners were seen observing social distancing while relaxing at their duty posts waiting for directives from their bosses.
Sanitizers were located at the entrance and strategic positions of the headquarters of FAAN under the strict supervision of FAAN security personnel.

One of the public affairs officers at FAAN who told our correspondent that he was not allowed to speak said senior staff have reported to duty as directed by the government.
In a related development, there was heavy traffic in some major roads in Lagos as commercial vehicle operators in the state yesterday started complying with Lagos government directives on conveying of passengers by maintaining social distancing.

It was observed that some other state commercial drivers especially from Ogun state into Lagos did not observe the social distancing as the drivers defied the order of Lagos state government by carrying over the number of passengers approved.

Bike operators popularly known as Okada went into hiding following the government’s directive that they should not operative as the government commenced the easing of lockdown in the state.
However, the gate to the MMA 2 remained closed.
