How security operatives searched suspended EFCC boss, Magu’s homes

Information is rife that a combined team of riot policemen and operatives of the State Security Services (SSS) were at the residence of Ibrahim Magu, the suspended boss of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), while still in detention.

It was gathered that the presidential panel set up to investigate Mr Magu, hinted that operatives were detailed to conduct searches at Mr Magu’s private home in Karu and his official residence in the Maitama District of the Nigerian capital.

However, the information in the medial indicated that Mr Magu is still with the presidential panel. A development which was corroborated by an industry source that his house in was searched after searching his home in Karu. In fact, it gathered that there was the presence of the security men as of 7:30 pm on Tuesday evening.

Reports, however, showed that the security operatives were in four vehicles and spent over an hour searching the house. Although, it was reported that after searching the house nothing was found but wrote a report and asked his two security guards to sign.
In view of the development, there are indications that the most-senior EFCC official next to Mr Magu has been asked to take charge.

Meanwhile, Nigerian media practitioners are waiting eagerly for the official reactions by the Presidential spokespersons, Garba Shehu and Femi Adesina, who are yet to comment on the development since the news broke.

It would be recalled that Mr Magu was arrested in front of the EFCC office in Abuja by security officials on Monday, over allegations of corruption, insubordination and abuse of office by Attorney-General Abubakar Malami.

He was driven to the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where he appeared before a presidential panel investigating alleged corruption and insubordination.

After his appearance before the panel, he was taken into custody by the police, where he was held overnight by detectives.
