First civilian Governor of Lagos, Lateef Jakande dies at 91
First elected governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Lateef Jakande, has reportedly died in Lagos. He was aged 91 years.
Popularly called ‘Baba Kekere’ during his active days in politics, the former governor, elected on the banner of the defunct Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN), initiated and executed a lot welfare programmes.
He was called Baba Kekere’ in those days by his followers because of his closeness to the founder of the UPN, late Chief Obafemi Awolowo.
