Labour calls for peace urges youths to shun violence
The leadership of organised labour, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) has congratulated Nigerian workers and all Nigerians for taking part in the 2021 Salah celebration.
Just as the two labour centres commended all Nigerians for their roles in tackling the effects of coronavirus pandemic, they appealed to people, especially, youths to shun all forms of violence and urge to be used for political thugs.
According to Wabba, “on behalf of the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress, I extend very heartily felicitation with the Muslim Umma all over the world especially Nigerian Muslims and workers on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration.”
“As we celebrate the Sallah this year, we must all be mindful of the prevalence of the third wave of COVID-19 which has a4icted many countries of the world with the very virulent Delta variant. We urge all citizens and workers to be on the guard and take necessary precautions.”
Additionally, Wabba said: “Violence can never be the solution. Government must not criminalise social dialogue call on the government to take utmost caution, not to criminalize social dialogue. Social dialogue can only be meaningful when every party comes to the table in good faith.”
On his own part, TUC president, Comrade Quadri Olaleye called on the government to occupy the youth by giving them useful and gainful employment that could prevent them from being used for political thugs.
The plight of Nigerians under this administration falls below expectation. “We say no to more loans. It has to stop. We are not in a master-servant relationship. Public officials are our employees because they are paid with taxpayers’ money,” he pointed out.
