Revised National MSME policy gets FEC approval, says SMEDAN DG

The Director-General of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (SMEDAN) Dr Umaru Dikko Radda has announced that the recently revised national policy on Nigeria’s Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) has been approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC).

Radda added that the policy will soon be presented to stakeholders and the general public.

He made the disclosure at the 2021 MSME Opportunity Fair which was held in Lagos recently.

According to him the commitment of the agency led to the birthday of the revised national policy which will boost the development of the over 41 million MSMEs in the country provide over 59 million jobs.

Speaking at the Fair, the SMEDAN DG explained that “The MSME the subsector is bedevilled by so many challenges and one of it understands the access to the market.

“This is one of the reasons why SMEDAN is working assiduously to ensure that opportunity fairs are held annually even as it demands the deployment of ICT platforms.

“Consequently, the Fair is a major tool for promotion, communication, marketing and exchange of ideas which is why the Programme is implemented in both the north and the south to enhance competitiveness,”

He added that the commitment of the agency in boosting a robust MSME subsector led to the choice of the theme of this year tagged “MSMEs: Key to an Inclusive and Sustainable Post-Pandemic Recovery.”

According to him, the major aim of the fair is to promote the growth of business in the country as well as appreciate and promote homemade goods and services.
