Thanksgiving service : FRSC Pledges More collaboration with Lagos Govt.
Sector Commander of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Lagos, Mr Olusegun Ogungbemide, has pledged more collaboration with Lagos Government to enhance seamless traffic control in the state.
Ogungbemide made the pledge during an open-air inter- denomination thanksgiving service of the corps, held at Ojodu in Lagos on Monday.
He commended Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his ‘tremendous support’ for the corps, particularly with the donation of four new patrol vehicles and six motor bikes to assist in quick response to rescue operations.
The sector commander also appreciated the support of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) for prompt response of its tools anytime the need for quick evacuation of vehicles on the highways arose.
He expressed happiness that in spite the hazards experienced in 2021, no death was recorded among the personnel of the corps in the course of their operations.

“From Jan. 2021 till Dec. 31, 2021, in spite of the evils on the road, God still protected our operatives. So many accidents were recorded, including those involving our personnel, but we never lost anyone.
“The essence of this gathering is to appreciate God for keeping the lives of our men in the past year.
“In 2019, we had lesser road crashes compared with 2020. Presently, we have opened up our operations in all the local government areas in the state, while the various centres feed us with statistics of crashes relative to the previous years.
“Now that we have more captured, we will be able to conveniently compare 2021 crashes with those of 2022 at the end of the year, to be able to assess the effectiveness of our in efforts at reducing crashes in the state,’’ he said.
Ogungbemide promised that the corps would collaborate with other stakeholders to ensure free movement of traffic within its area of jurisdiction.
He said that he had redeployed 100 officers to support the personnel of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) on Apapa corridor, saying that this had eased traffic on Apapa Ports road.
