Africunia, Cooperative Partner To Support 20,000 Farmers In Kogi

As part of the effort to boost food production in Africa, Africunia has partnered with the Women in Agriculture Cooperative to disburse grants to 20,000 women in Kogi State.

Speaking at the empowerment programme, Dr Audu Esther said “Women in Agriculture Cooperative first entered into a partnership with Africunia Bank in 2018 in Lokoja, Kogi State, because the Bank is for the people at the grassroots and the unbanked with a keen interest in Agriculture.

“Africunia Bank Afcash: Africunia Afcash is WACF currency and it is used for our Farmers Pension Scheme and for exchange of goods and services.

The grants disbursement committee however sensitized and trained all the agents of the Bank.

Also speaking Dr Mrs Esther Audu, said Africunia is a bank for the people at the grassroots and the unbanked, adding that the bank has a system that would enable customers to enjoy their funds without travelling far before they can access Banking services.

Africunia Bank Agriculture Grants: This is why we are here today. Africunia Bank wants to give our Farmers Agric Grants for us to produce process and sell 90 per cent of the product to us and we will still pay you.

This is our own corporate way of reducing poverty and hardship in Nigeria and Africa at large. There are 23 Agric Commodities involved in this project.

Women in Agriculture Cooperative Federation Limited is an organization who believes in practical. Aside Africunia Bank Grants, we also have our own grants that are meant for production processing, storage, packaging and marketing.

Our vision is to assist our members to create wealth by involving in practical Agricultural businesses for sustainability. While our mission is to use every available opportunity to bring something out of nothing by dedicating ourselves to regular training and research

WIACF is currently in seven (7) States, they are Kogi, Edo, Kwara, Nasarawa, Benue, Kaduna and Abuja as the National Headquarters.

We are working towards getting other States involved. By the grace of God WIACF is celebrating its 13th Year of existence. We have achieved a lot within this period.

We have a very strong structure from the National level down to the Community level and we have a membership strength of over 10,000 across the States mentioned above while we have a targetted minimum number of 20,000 beneficiary slots for the Africunia Bank Agric. Grants
