Fuel, Naira Scarcity: Lagos slashes BRT fares by 50%

In a bid to ease the suffering of Lagosian, as the scarcity of fuel naira bites harder the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Wednesday announced a 50 percent reduction on all State-owned public transport systems for the next one week.

Disclosing this via the State’s social media handles, the Lagos State Governor also announced a suspension of the Buba Marwa concrete road construction in Ijegun Egba, which is about 60 percent completed, in order to ease the movement of Petroleum Products to various filling stations in the State.

According to the statement on the Lagos State social media handles, the Governor announced a 50% reduction on all Lagos State Public Transport Systems for the next one week through the Cowry Card system. This measure is to cushion the effect of the Fuel and Currency crisis.

He also declared that the Buba Marwa concrete road construction in Ijegun Egba (about 60% completion) has been suspended, to ease the movement of Petroleum Products to various filling stations, in conjunction with @nnpclimited & Independent Tank Farm Owners.”
