16th CIBN’s Banking & Finance Conference: Experts, stakeholders to brainstorm on Nigeria’s sustainable economic growth

All has been set for the 16th Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN), banking and finance conference as experts and other stakeholders brainstorm on Nigeria’s sustainable economic growth. The event will be held in a hybrid format on September 5 and 6th at Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.
The Managing Director of FSDH Merchant Bank, Bukola Smith, who is the chairperson of the consultative committee of the 16th annual banking and finance conference disclosed at the World Press Conference held on Monday 28 August 2023 at Bankers House Lagos.
She explained that the conference with the theme, “Nigeria’s economic growth and empowerment: The role of the financial services industry’’, would allow industry experts to brainstorm and articulate real strategies for engendering inclusive sustainable growth.
According to her, President Bola Tinubu and the FCT minister, Nyesom Wike, Kingsley Obiora, Deputy Governor, Economic Policy of CBN; Razia Khan, Managing Director and Chief Economist, Africa and Middle East, Global Research; Standard Chartered Bank; Olayinka David-West, Associate Dean, Lagos Business School, among other dignitaries are expected to grace the event.
While throwing insight into the theme, she explained that the conference with the theme, “Nigeria’s economic growth and empowerment: The role of the financial services industry’’, would allow industry experts to brainstorm and articulate real strategies for engendering inclusive sustainable growth.
She added that the Country Director, of the World Bank, Shubham Chaudhuri, would be the keynote speaker while the Acting Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Folashodun Shonubi, would deliver a special goodwill message; and Ken Opara, the chief host.
According to Smith, the conference will feature five thought-provoking business and two break-out sessions.
She said, “Apart from providing participants a platform to connect with other professionals and industry stakeholders across the world, it promises to be intellectually stimulating.
“There will also be a pre-conference/welcome cocktail and fire-side chat specifically packaged for youths. This will be an interactive session in a convivial and relaxed atmosphere where carefully selected successful professionals will share their success stories with the audience to inspire them.’’
The Banking and Finance Conference is an annual event of The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN), with an estimated audience of 1,000 comprising professionals, policymakers, regulators, operators and other stakeholders in the financial services industry to share experiences and exchange ideas on contemporary issues affecting the sector and the economy as a whole.
