Lagos Gov. Sanwo-Olu Gets New Appointmen

The six governors of the South-West geopolitical zone convened in Lagos and appointed Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State as the new Chairman of the South-West Governors’ Forum.

The meeting, held at the Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja, lasted for three hours, during which a communique was issued.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, speaking to state house correspondents after the meeting, announced his appointment as the new chairman, succeeding the late Ondo State Governor, Ogbeni Rotimi Akeredolu. However, he did not disclose the decision made regarding the ongoing minimum wage controversy between the Federal Government and Organised Labour, stating that they are awaiting the outcome of negotiations between the two parties.

All six state governors attended the meeting, which was crucial for discussing regional issues and fostering cooperation among the states. The governors present included Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, Luky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State, and Abiodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State.

The meeting, which commenced at 12 noon, saw the early arrival of three governors by 11:30 a.m., with Governor Abiodun of Ogun State among the first to arrive.
