The Katsina State Police Command has announced the arrest of two individuals linked to banditry and the recovery of stolen livestock.

The arrests took place in Jibia Local Government Area through collaborative efforts with the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC) and local hunters.

According to ASP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, the command’s Public Relations Officer, the arrests were made on July 25, 2024. A police team from Jibia Divisional Police Headquarters, working with the KSCWC and hunters, apprehended the suspects from Zandam village while they were transporting stolen livestock near Magama cemetery in Jibia LGA. The recovered animals included two rams, one sheep, and a goat.

The suspects admitted to receiving the stolen livestock from a notorious bandit leader named Nura from Mazanya village, who remains at large. They were reportedly en route to sell the animals at Magama market in Jibia.

The suspects further revealed that they had frequently handled stolen livestock from the bandit leader. The police are actively pursuing the fugitive bandit leader and continuing their investigation.

This operation highlights the ongoing efforts of the Katsina State Police Command, led by Commissioner Aliyu Abubakar-Musa, in combating armed banditry in the region.
