Military Personnel Apprehend Suspected Terrorists, Seize Weapons and Ammunition

According to a statement by the Nigerian Army, on August 7, 2024, troops stationed at Kambari, acting on credible intelligence, engaged suspected bandits attacking a Fulani settlement in Katlong Village, Karim Lamido Local Government Area.
The bandits fled under heavy fire, leaving one suspect, Yusuf Musa, behind. He was arrested with an AK-47 rifle and 20 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition. The troops also recovered 118 cows, which were returned to their rightful owners.
On August 6, 2024, in a separate operation, the troops, acting on intelligence about suspected bandits heading to Mashingi Village market in Karim Lamido Local Government Area to purchase food items, laid an ambush and successfully arrested four suspects.
Items recovered from them included a motorcycle, four mobile phones, and ₦57,000.
In a third operation on August 9, 2024, the statement said the troops, acting on a tip-off, mobilized to the Magami area in Jalingo Local Government Area, where they arrested two suspects preparing large quantities of machetes, believed to be intended for distribution to hoodlums. They recovered 436 machetes, four filling machines, a mobile phone, and several fabrication tools.
Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of the 6 Brigade, commended the troops for their swift and effective actions in safeguarding the people of Taraba State. He reiterated the Nigerian Army’s commitment to maintaining peace and security nationwide and called on citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
General Uwa assured the public that the arrested suspects would be handed over to the appropriate authorities for further investigation and prosecution. He also emphasized the Army’s ongoing collaboration with other security agencies and community leaders to eradicate criminal activities in Taraba State and its environs.
