Nestle Nigeria Launches Eco-friendly Packaging for Golden Morn Cereal

Golden Morn now wears new package Produced by Nestlé Nigeria, the foremost breakfast cereal’s new look was launched recently at the company’s head office at ilupeju, Lagos.
In his welcome address, the Managing Director, Nestlé Nigeria, Wassim Elhussein, said Golden Morn is poised to continue to lead in the markets as the best cereal for all, adding that the new package which is 100 percent recyclable laminate packaging reflects their commitment for both nutrition and sustainability
He maintained that: “The key aspect is that its raw materials are 100 percent sourced locally.
Every spoonful you enjoy is a testament that proves that our product is precious. It touches lives of Nigerians.
“Proudly developed in Nigeria for Nigerians, Golden Morn has been a staple food in Nigerian households for more than 38 years, offering a delicious and wholesome start for the day.
“Crafted from locally sourced maize and soya, the cereal is rich in essential vitamins and minerals, including vitamins A, B1, B5, C, and iron.”
“Today, over 80 percent of all Nestlé’s packaging in Nigeria is optimized for recycling and we are happy that Golden Morn’s packaging has been upgraded to a designed for recycling laminate from the previous aluminum foil packaging. By embracing recyclable materials, we are not only minimizing waste but also reinforcing our leadership in environmental stewardship within the industry.
“Since 2006, Nestle Nigeria has supported small farmers. In 2023, 22,000 farmers were trained while 15,000 farmers gained credit. We support agricultural community to improve output, thereby widening development value chains by providing technical support and access to funding,” he added.
In his remark, Category Manager, Dairy, Mr. Omofasa Orhiunu, said, Nestle has been producing cereal that is nutritious for over 30 years. Its nutritional benefits, according to him, include vitamin A, energy, calcium, and dietary fiber.
“It is convenient and easy to prepare. It’s suitable for both adults and children.
Nestle has continued to maintain partnership with farmers, so, we are making impact in Nigerian economy by sourcing our ingredients locally.
“As we introduce our new sustainable packaging, we remain committed to delivering the same great taste and nutrition that Nigerians have trusted for over 38 years.”
Sunday Times learnt that the brand sources 100 percent of its maize and soya locally,
collaborating with Nigerian farmers to ensure the freshness and quality of its ingredients.
The launch of its new sustainable packaging, the company stated further, underscored the brand’s dedication to providing nutritious food while championing environmental responsibility.
In continuing, the company revealed that the new package reflects Golden Morn’s over three-decade legacy of nourishing Nigerian families and its forward-thinking approach to sustainability, which is aligned with Nestlé’s global recycling vision, the new packaging is a testament to the company’s pledge to ensure that more than 95 percent of its plastic packaging is recyclable by 2025.
