Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo says in line with President Tinubu’s directive on travels, the foreign trainings in the aviation sector will be discouraged and improve on local content development for personnel in the sector.
Keyamo who made this statement at Prime Atlantic Safety Services, while commissioning the Aviation Centre at the multipurpose international facility, Friday at Ipara, Ogun state, emphasized the importance of local content training, said huge amount of money has been spent foreign trainings in the past saying that Prime Atlantic safety will fill that gap and conserve foreign exchange and build capacity.
Keyamo noted that there were no big deal training personnel in overseas when such facilities were available in the country.
He commended the training institute and assured them of the necessary support needed to move the centre forward adding that their initiatives were essential for strengthening Nigeria’s aviation ecosystem, which can help address various resource challenges.
“Let us look inwards to get training, we are looking for money to develop infrastructure, we need to conserve our foreign exchange,” he stated. “Go and look at request for foreign tavels, I want to build capacity at reasonable costs within Nigeria, using local resources as much as possible,” Keyamo said.
This strategic shift aims not only to conserve resources but also to create more opportunities for professionals to receive training locally.
He expressed surprise at the high level of training infrastructure available, comparing it favorably to many overseas institutions. “I have gone around the world myself,” Keyamo remarked.
The Prime Atlantic Safety Services Group Managing Director, Ayo Otuyalo explained how the facility was set up 14-year ago.
