Niger, Chinese Group Collaborate, Targets $1.5bn Agro Export

Niger State government is set to partner with development groups from China for the establishment of a Special Agro Processing Zone SAP-Z,  targeting an export projection of $1.5 billion.

In view of the partnership, the state governor Mohammed Umaru Bago  received a delegation of the development partners  at the Government House Minna.

Bago said his administration will always give them the much needed support to succeed in the state because they have  shown full commitment in the Special Agro Processing Zone programme.

He said the state government hoped to use the opportunity to propel its export projection to about $1.5billion from the initial evaluation of $150m.

While saying his administration will continue to involve the private sector to drive agriculture and agro processing  in the state , the governor  disclosed that  already, the Chinese Overseas Engineering Group and the China Railway Corporation are partnering with the state .

Earlier, the leader of the delegation and chairman, Niger State SAPZ Company Ltd Mr. Yomi Akapo lauded the governor’s efforts and  for always giving investors the opportunity to invest in the  state.

The managing director, of COVEC Nigeria Ltd, Ma Zhengyiun said the company would engage in advancing SAZP projects in the area of agriculture, mining and financial sectors of the state.
