Tinubu appoints new MD for Nigeria Railway Corporation
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Dr. Kayode Opeifa, the former Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, as the new Managing Director of the Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC).
The appointment was made public through a statement from the presidency, which highlighted Opeifa’s extensive expertise and significant contributions to transportation reforms in Nigeria.
The statement emphasized his transformative work in Lagos, where as Commissioner for Transportation, he implemented policies that drastically improved public transport systems and traffic management, contributing to the state’s urban development.
Before this new role, Dr. Opeifa served as the Transport Secretary for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
His leadership in the Lagos transport sector, where he spearheaded key initiatives to modernize the city’s transport infrastructure, has positioned him as a strong candidate to lead the modernization of Nigeria’s railway network.
