ESG Forum Launches Mentorship Programme for Young Sustainability Professionals
The Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Forum, a leading initiative dedicated to advancing sustainable development across Africa, has officially unveiled its Young Professional Forum (YPF) Mentorship Programme. Set to commence in March 2025, this groundbreaking initiative aims to cultivate the next generation of sustainability leaders in Nigeria.
The YPF Mentorship Programme is a six-month, online-only initiative targeted at young professionals aged 21 to 35 who are passionate about sustainability. It offers participants immersive training, expert mentorship, and exposure to global best practices, with a focus on sectors such as Environmental Science, Policy, Sustainable Development, and Social Sciences.
Applicants must demonstrate a deep commitment to sustainability and be pursuing or hold a degree in a relevant field. This initiative underscores the ESG Forum’s commitment to empowering young leaders and fostering sustainable development across Africa. By facilitating one-on-one mentorship, career guidance, workshops, internship placements, and networking opportunities, the programme is set to make a lasting impact on the professional trajectories of its participants.
Odiri Erewa-Meggison, Chairman of the ESG Forum Technical Committee, highlighted the programme’s significance, saying, “We are investing in young professionals who will lead Africa toward a more sustainable future. This mentorship initiative will provide them with the tools and insights to tackle the pressing challenges of our time.”
The ESG Forum continues to strengthen its role as a catalyst for change by partnering with global organisations and creating spaces for dialogue on innovative sustainability practices. As the programme expands its reach, it promises to play a key role in shaping Africa’s future sustainability leaders.
Otome Afiegbe, Chair of the Young Professionals Subcommittee, stressed, “This programme will enable young professionals to embed sustainability principles early in their careers, driving positive change across the continent.”
Tosin Leye-Odeyemi, Chair of the Finance Subcommittee, added, “This will be a game changer for young professionals in the region, equipping them with the knowledge and network needed to succeed in the global sustainability landscape.”
