Flutterwave, Africa’s leading payments technology company, has partnered with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) to empower micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) with advanced digital payment solutions, e-commerce tools, financial access, and capacity-building programmes.
The collaboration, aligned with SMEDAN’s Grow Nigerian initiative, aims to enhance the digital capabilities of small businesses, providing them with seamless and secure payment platforms to accept transactions globally via mobile wallets, card payments, and bank transfers.
This initiative builds on Flutterwave’s ongoing efforts to support MSMEs through innovations like the Flutterwave Store, small business grants, trade fairs, and the ‘Keeping the Lights On’ campaign, which has helped thousands of businesses navigate economic challenges.
Flutterwave’s Founder and CEO, Olugbenga Agboola, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to strengthening Nigerian businesses, stating, “As a company with deep Nigerian roots, we understand the daily challenges small businesses face.
This partnership with SMEDAN ensures MSMEs have access to the best digital payment and e-commerce solutions, helping them scale efficiently.”
SMEDAN’s Director-General and CEO, Charles Odii, highlighted the critical role of digital tools and financial resources in business expansion. “One of the biggest obstacles MSMEs encounter is access to technology and funding. With Flutterwave as our partner, we have a strong ally offering innovative solutions to help Nigerian businesses compete on a global scale,” he said.
Flutterwave emphasised that the partnership leverages both organisations’ strengths—its fintech expertise and SMEDAN’s extensive MSME network—to create sustainable growth opportunities. With MSMEs forming the backbone of Nigeria’s economy, this collaboration is expected to drive long-term business success, enhance financial inclusion, and contribute to Nigeria’s economic development in the digital age.
