Markets Soar as Trump Says Tariffs Paused for 90 Days on Non-Retaliating Countries
President Trump has announced that he will be pausing tariffs on countries who have not retaliated against the US for 90-days leading to markets soaring.
The list of non-retaliating countries includes most of the US trading partners in Asia except China.
So this 90-day pause, combined with the negotiations that the administration has said will be kicking off very soon with the likes of Japan, South Korea and Vietnam, actually adds some credibility to Treasury secretary Bessent’s earlier idea about deals with allies ahead of combined pressure on China.
the S&P 500 extended its surge to 7.3%, Nasdaq 100 soared 8.9%, Nvidia shares jumped 12%, the most Since July 31 and Apple shares rose 13%, the most Since March 2020.
