Presidential aide has dismissed claims circulating on social media that President Bola Tinubu is in France for medical attention, insisting the president is abroad strictly for official engagements.

Speaking during an appearance on Sunday Politics aired on Channels Television, Daniel Bwala said the president’s trip to Paris has been mischaracterized by online commentators.

“Sometimes on social media, somebody will be tweeting, you don’t even know who the person is; it can be somebody who has mental health somewhere. You just see that information is coming out.

“The president did not go to see a doctor; he’s on a working visit and we have been publishing his activities,” Bwala said.

President Tinubu departed Nigeria on April 2, 2025, for a brief working visit to Paris, according to a statement released by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga.

In footage made available by the Presidency, the president was seen bidding farewell to senior government officials before boarding his flight.

Onanuga explained that the trip would serve as an opportunity for Tinubu to assess the progress of ongoing reforms and participate in strategic sessions in preparation for the second anniversary of his administration.

He also confirmed that the president is scheduled to return to Nigeria on April 16, 2025.
