NRC Extends Eid-el-Kabir Train Trips on Lagos-Ibadan, Abuja-Kaduna Routes

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced the extension of its special Eid-el-Kabir train operations with additional trips on the Lagos-Ibadan and Abuja-Kaduna routes to accommodate the high volume of passengers during the festive season.

According to the NRC, the special train services will run on Monday9th June 2025, following the success of earlier operations on Thursday, 5th June, which saw full bookings and overwhelming commuter traffic. The extension aims to ease the return journey for travellers heading back after the Sallah celebrations.

Revised Lagos-Ibadan Schedule – Monday, 9th June 2025: Lagos to Ibadan: 8:00 AM, 1:55 PM (Additional Trip).

Also, 4:00 PM train now departs at 4:46 PM; Ibadan to Lagos: 8:00 AM; 11:03 AM (Additional Trip), and 4:46 PM., Abuja-Kaduna Full Service Extended – Tuesday, 11th June 2025.

To further manage the passenger surge, NRC has extended its full six-trip daily schedule on the Abuja-Kaduna route to Tuesday, 11th June 2025, a schedule typically reserved for weekends and Mondays.

Abuja to Kaduna: 7:45 AM;  2:00 P,M and 3:10 PM; Kaduna to Abuja: 7:00 AM, and 2:00 PM, and 5:00 PM.

NRC’s Managing Director, Dr. Kayode Opeifa, emphasised the corporation’s commitment to responsive and quality service delivery.

“We are pleased with the public’s response to our special services. These additional trips are part of our commitment to meeting the growing demand for rail mobility,” he stated.

The NRC advised passengers to arrive early for security screening and boarding, and to complete bookings online in advance to avoid delays.

With the theme “Rail: Revive to Inspire and Cherish,” the NRC reaffirmed its dedication to safe, reliable, and timely transport services during and beyond the festive period.
