MTN Nigeria Records 760 in July Alone, Over 5,400 Fibre Cuts So Far in 2025
In its weekly operational report, leading telecoms giant, MTN Nigeria has said that it recorded well over 5,478 fibre cuts nationwide with 760 discovered in July 2025.
In a terse report made available to Business Hilights on Friday, MTn Nigeria averred that “We recorded 760 fibre cuts nationwide in July, thus, bringing the year-to-date total to over 5,478 incidents. These disruptions, primarily caused by road construction and vandalism, continue to impact service quality across the country.

“One case of vandalism in the North-Eastern region is being addressed through a scheduled maintenance on Sunday, August 24th, from 6:00 AM to 8:00 AM, affecting 101 sites across 15 LGAs in Kano, Adamawa, and Borno States.
“This is just one of the many ripple effects of vandalism, forcing us to rebuild, reroute, and restore infrastructure to maintain a stable and reliable network. We sincerely apologise to our affected subscribers for any inconvenience during this period,” MTN Nigeria said.
