The management of Dangote Petroleum Refinery has terminated the employment of all its Nigerian workers.

The announcement was made on Wednesday by political commentator, Imran Wakili, via his X handle.

According to Wakili, the development came less than 24 hours after 90 percent of the refinery’s Nigerian staff joined the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN).

A memo dated September 25, 2025, and signed by the Chief General Manager of Human Asset Management, Femi Adekunle, stated that the decision was part of a “total re-organisation” of the refinery following reported cases of sabotage in different units of the plant.

The notice directed all affected workers to return company property in their possession to their line managers and obtain exit clearance. The finance department was also instructed to compute benefits and entitlements for payment in line with their terms of employment.

The management expressed appreciation to the dismissed workers for their services.

Reports indicate that Dangote Refinery and PENGASSAN have recently been embroiled in a trade dispute over unionization.
