The Nigerian Air Force has strengthened its collaboration with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited in a renewed push to safeguard the country’s vital oil and gas infrastructure.

The move, announced in a statement issued on Wednesday, reflects ongoing efforts to enhance security around strategic national assets amid persistent threats such as oil theft, vandalism and illegal bunkering across the Niger Delta.

According to the statement, both institutions reaffirmed their long-standing partnership, noting that intensified joint operations would help protect critical facilities and improve national energy security.

The development comes as security agencies continue coordinated operations against crude oil theft. Troops of the 6 Division of the Nigerian Army, working with other agencies, recently apprehended dozens of suspected oil thieves and shut down illegal refining sites in several parts of the Niger Delta, following sustained anti-crude theft campaigns.

The renewed cooperation between the Nigerian Air Force and NNPC Limited is expected to bolster surveillance, response capability and overall protection of Nigeria’s oil and gas installations nationwide.
