Lagos Moves to Ensure Smooth Traffic Ahead of Lekki–Epe Expressway Rehabilitation
The Lagos State Government has intensified preparations to guarantee seamless traffic flow ahead of the planned rehabilitation of the Lekki–Epe Expressway, as the Ministries of Transportation and Works and Infrastructure conducted a joint media tour and inspection of the corridor.
The exercise was designed to acquaint journalists with the scope of the project and the traffic management strategies to be deployed to minimise disruption to commuters and businesses along the busy axis during the construction period.
Speaking during the inspection, the Honourable Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to maintaining efficient mobility before, during and after the rehabilitation works, stressing that strong inter-agency collaboration would be key to success.
Also present were the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Hon. Sola Giwa; Special Adviser on Infrastructure, Engr. Olufemi Daramola; Permanent Secretary, Infrastructure, Engr. Tokunbo Oyenuga; representatives of the project contractor; senior officials from both ministries; officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA); and members of the media.
Officials assured residents and motorists that comprehensive traffic control measures, supported by LASTMA operatives and effective public communication, would be implemented to ease congestion and ensure safety throughout the rehabilitation period.
