WIEG to Host First International Investment Summit in Lagos
World International Economic Group (WIEG) Nigeria has announced plans to host its first international investment summit in Lagos on February 25 and 26, 2026, an event expected to reshape Nigeria’s investment and enterprise development landscape.
The announcement was made at a pre summit press briefing in Lagos, where the Lead Representative and spokesperson of WIEG Nigeria, Mr. Bassey Essien, said the summit will be held under the theme, From policy to capital: Unlocking enterprise growth for sustainable investment.

Essien explained that the summit is designed to connect public policy, private capital, and growth ready enterprises in a structured and outcome driven manner.
He noted that despite existing government policies aimed at supporting Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, cooperatives, and women led businesses, persistent challenges remain.
These include limited access to structured investment and long term capital, weak investment readiness and compliance among enterprises, and fragmented engagement between policymakers, investors, and other market actors.
According to him, the WIEG Investment Summit will address these gaps by providing a platform that aligns policy objectives with private sector investment and practical market opportunities.
He disclosed that the summit will feature curated participation from pre screened MSMEs, cooperatives, investors, Development Finance Institutions, and development partners.

The programme will include investment readiness sessions, policy to market dialogues, and structured matchmaking engagements.
Essien added that post summit continuity is a key focus of the initiative, with tracking, reporting, and follow up mechanisms put in place to ensure measurable and sustainable outcomes.
He further emphasized that the summit is non partisan, carries no financial burden on government partners, and remains aligned with national economic and enterprise development priorities.
The WIEG spokesperson said the event is expected to deliver tangible outcomes in job creation, enterprise growth, women’s economic empowerment, stronger cooperative participation, and improved investor confidence.
