NCAT Delegation Visits Gusau Airport, Explores Prospects for Aviation Training Partnership
A delegation from the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, NCAT, has conducted an official inspection of the Gusau International Airport project in Zamfara State as part of efforts to explore possible collaboration in aviation training and capacity development.
The team was led by Nasir Muhammad Bungura and received by the Permanent Secretary of the Zamfara State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Haruna Dikko Gusau.
The visit formed part of an assessment of the airport’s infrastructure and readiness to support practical aviation training activities.
During the tour, the delegation inspected major components of the facility, including the runway, terminal buildings, navigational systems and safety installations.
After the inspection, Bungura described the progress recorded at the airport as encouraging, noting that the infrastructure provides a solid base for operational and training purposes.
He stated that NCAT is interested in identifying facilities that can offer students real time operational exposure, particularly in areas such as airport safety management, air traffic services and aircraft ground operations.
According to him, partnerships of this nature would strengthen hands on learning and contribute to improved standards across Nigeria’s aviation sector.
Engr. Gusau, speaking on behalf of the Zamfara State Government under Dauda Lawal, said the administration is focused on ensuring that the airport serves broader developmental goals beyond transportation.
He added that collaboration with a national aviation training institution would enhance human capital development and expand the airport’s strategic relevance.
Both parties are expected to continue discussions on possible areas of cooperation, including the use of the facility for specialized training programmes and technical engagements.
