NRC Condemns Alleged Assault on University of Ibadan Lecturer, Orders Investigation

The Management of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has expressed concern over media reports alleging the assault of Dr. Mikail Abdussalam, a lecturer at the University of Ibadan, at the Obafemi Awolowo Train Station in Moniya, Ibadan.
In a statement, the Corporation emphasized that harassment, intimidation, or any form of misconduct against passengers or members of the public is unacceptable and inconsistent with the values and operational standards of the Nigerian Railway Corporation.
Consequently, management has ordered an immediate investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. The Corporation stated that any staff found to have acted in violation of its professional and public service code of conduct will face appropriate disciplinary action in line with established regulations and the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The Nigerian Railway Corporation also expressed regret over the unfortunate incident and tendered its apology to the lecturer for the distress caused.
The NRC reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that all passengers and visitors at its stations are treated with dignity, respect, and professionalism at all times. It further assured the public that necessary measures are being put in place to strengthen adherence to customer service standards across its facilities to prevent a recurrence of such incidents.
