LOVI Urges Women to Prioritise Health, Unity at Easter
The Ladies of Victory International (LOVI) Fellowship has called on women across Nigeria to prioritise their health and embrace unity as part of activities marking the Easter celebration.
The group emphasised the need for renewed commitment, sincerity, and unity of purpose among women, urging them to show love, make sacrifices, and support one another in contributing meaningfully to national development.
In a statement issued in Abuja, the International President of LOVI Sisters, Helen Azukaego Okechukwu, encouraged women to adopt healthy lifestyles and take advantage of early medical check-ups and screenings to prevent life-threatening diseases.
Okechukwu reiterated the organisation’s commitment to advancing the welfare of women and children, particularly in the area of health and wellbeing.
She also expressed concern over the growing insecurity in parts of the country, especially in the northern region, citing recurrent attacks in Plateau State, kidnappings along the Kogi axis, and continued killings in Benue and Kwara States. She noted that women remain among the most affected victims of these security challenges.
The LOVI president condemned the persistent attacks and called on the Federal Government and security agencies to adopt proactive, intelligence-driven strategies to curb the menace.
She further urged authorities to ensure the swift arrest and prosecution of perpetrators to serve as a deterrent to others.
The organisation also called on the Federal Government to adequately equip security agencies with modern tools and strengthen intelligence gathering to prevent further attacks on communities.
On political participation, Okechukwu encouraged women to actively engage in politics by building strong support systems and contesting elective positions. She reiterated LOVI’s commitment to advocating increased representation of women, including the push for special seats in legislative bodies.
“As we celebrate this sacred season, may the resurrection of Christ bring healing to our land, peace to our communities, and renewed hope to every woman and Nigeria at large,” she said.
The group also extended warm Easter greetings to Nigerians, urging citizens to reflect on the values of love, sacrifice, and unity symbolised by the season.
