Buhari Appoints Gen Irabor Chief of Defence Staff as Olonishakin, Buratai, Others Retire

The most successful commander of the counter-insurgency operation in the Northeast, Operation Lafiya Dole, Maj-Gen Lucky Irabor, has been appointed Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Presidential media adviser, Femi Adeaina, in a statement announcing the retirements and appointments, said the also approved the appointments of new service chiefs to work with General Irabor as CDS.

PRESIDENT BUHARI APPOINTS NEW SERVICE CHIEFS

President Muhammadu Buhari has accepted the immediate resignation of the Service Chiefs, and their retirement from service.

President Buhari thanks the outgoing Service Chiefs for what he calls their “overwhelming achievements in our efforts at bringing enduring peace to our dear country,” wishing them well in their future endeavours.

The President congratulates the new Service Chiefs, and urges them to be loyal and dedicated in the discharge of their responsibilities.
