The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has declared 16 fresh coronavirus patients in the country, as the dealy disesase now 254 confirmed cases in the most populouse black nation.

It is however, note worthy that despite the ongoing lockdown order in Lagos, the nation’s centre of excellency, still recorded a whopping 10 new patients, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the state to 130.

This is even as Delta and Katsina state have joined the list of states affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

The NCDC in a tweet on the micro-blogging site, Twitter on Tuesday evening, made the disclosure.

The breakdoen of the figure of the 16 fresh cases are confirmed 10 cases in Lagos, two in Abuja, two in Oyo while Delta and Katsina recorded their index cases — one each, brings the total number of confirmed cases in Nigeria to 254.

According to NCDC, 44 of the 254 patients have recovered from the disease and discharged while six death as been recorded.

“As at 09:30 pm 7th April, there are 254 confirmed cases 44 discharged 6 deaths. Lagos so far has recorded 130 confirmed  cases; FCT- 50; Osun- 20; Oyo- 11; Edo- 11; Bauchi- 6; Akwa Ibom- 5; Kaduna- 5; Ogun- 4; Enugu- 2; Ekiti- 2; Rivers-2; Benue- 1; Ondo- 1; Kwara- 2; Delta- 1and  Katsina-1,” the tweet added.

LagosBusinesNews, however, recalled that the Federal Government on March 29, ordered a total lockdown for residents of Lagos, Abuja and Ogun States to curb the spread of COVID-19. President Muhammadu Buhari made the announcement during a broadcast.
