Lagos Task Force Intensifies Okada Ban Enforcement, Impounds 82 Motorcycles
The Lagos State Task Force continued its routine enforcement of the ban on commercial motorcycles (Okada) on highways and restricted routes on Tuesday, March 4, 2025.
During the operation, enforcement teams visited Alakija, Iyana-Iba, Festac, and Mile 2 areas, including the Berger Suya inward Mile 2 Oke axis. A total of 82 commercial motorcycles were impounded for violating the ban.
Authorities noted a significant reduction in the number of illegal Okada operators on the highways, attributing this to sustained enforcement efforts. The Task Force emphasized that the crackdown has contributed to a noticeable decline in crime across the metropolis.
Officials described the operation as smooth, stating that it was carried out with a high level of civility and professionalism. The Lagos State government reiterated its commitment to maintaining law and order while ensuring the safety of road users.
