Private sector operators in Nigeria are beginning to take into consideration the need to key into Government’s local content development initiative with Dorman Long Engineering Limited going into partnership with the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) to train localengineers.

Through this collaboration, both organisations aim to driveimpactful training initiatives and enhance the professional development ofengineers in the country.

Speaking on the significance of theagreement, managing director/CEO of Dorman Long Engineering Limited, Engr.Chris Ijeli, emphasised the company’s commitment to advancing engineeringexpertise and creating opportunities for young engineers, saying, “at DormanLong, we have always prioritized the development of young engineering talent,as evidenced by the success of past trainees who have gone on to holdleadership positions within our organization and beyond. This MoU serves as astructured framework to deepen our contributions to the engineering professionby offering training, mentorship, and professional consultancy services thatwill have a long-lasting impact.”
While signing the MoU, the presidentof NSE, Engr. Margaret Aina Oguntala emphasised that, the visit was aimed atlegitimizing the existing relationship between both organizations. Sheemphasised that the collaboration areas outlined in the MoU align with the NSEStrategic Agenda, which the Society has been actively pursuing. She alsoexpressed appreciation to Dorman Long Engineering Limited for its unwaveringsupport and commitment to the Engineering profession and the NSE.
Following the MoU signing, the NSEdelegation embarked on a facility tour of Dorman Long’s Idi – Oro worksite togain deeper insights into the company’s operations and contributions toNigeria’s engineering sector.
