The Lagos State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the capacity of its workforce as 35 senior Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIOs) commenced a two-day leadership and conflict-management masterclass at the Vehicle Inspection Service (VIS) Headquarters in Ojodu-Berger.

The training programme is designed to enhance morale, improve productivity, and reinforce officers’ competencies in key areas including personal effectiveness, emotional intelligence and professional conduct.

Speaking during the session, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Hon. Sola Giwa, urged the officers to deepen self-awareness, identify personal weaknesses and work deliberately towards self-improvement.

He stressed the importance of emotional control in their daily interactions with motorists, noting that patience and professionalism remain essential to effective service delivery.

The Special Adviser added that the initiative aims to better equip officers to manage emerging challenges while upholding the highest standards of conduct. He assured participants that the State Government will continue to prioritise their welfare to enable optimal performance.

On his part, the Director of the Vehicle Inspection Service, Engr. Akin-George Fashola, said the engagement would enhance officers’ ability to relate more effectively with the public through improved emotional intelligence and communication skills.

He urged participants to help change negative perceptions about the profession by applying the knowledge gained to elevate service delivery, reiterating the government’s commitment to fostering a supportive and innovative work environment across its workforce.
