Abandoned Vehicles: Amuwo Odofin LG Issues 21- day Ultimatum

The authorities of Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area has directed owners and operators of abandoned vehicles, trucks and containers on government roads, to evacuate them within 21 days or risk immediate loss to the government.

In a statement issued by the Head of Information Unit, of the Amuwo Odofin Local Government, Prince Olawale – Cole Adeola, said that failure on the part of the owners and operators to comply with the government’s directives would amount to the confiscation of the abandoned vehicles, trucks and containers.

The statement reads:” the attention of the general public has been drawn to the irredemable damages done to government’s roads in Amuwo Odofin local government as a result of the sharp practices of these operators, plying heavy haulage trucks and also abandoning containers on the road which the hoodlums have converted into their abode, including several abandoned vehicles of all brands that had defaced the public image of Amuwo community.”

Recall that the local government had prior to the release of this statement issued letters directing these vehicle, truck and container owners whose properties had long been indiscriminately abandoned on government roads to keep them off the roads but displayed utmost non- compliance and disregards to government’s directives.
