Breaking: FG dissolves SARS nationwide
Following the protest by Nigerian youths and celebrities in major cities across the country, the Inspector General of Police has dissolved the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) nationwide.
The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, on Sunday announced that the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Nigeria Police Force has been dissolved.
He said the operatives will be redeployed to other police formations and commands.
According to the IGP, “The Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Nigeria Police Force otherwise known as SARS is hereby dissolved in all the 36 State Police Commands and the Federal Capital Territory.”
The briefing was immediately followed by a statement signed by Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Frank Mba.
