Ex- NAICOM Boss, Fola Daniel Charges Young Professionals On Creativity, Specialisation

Nigeria’s Former Commissioner of Insurance, Fola Daniel has charged young Insurance professionals on the need to be creative and carve a niche for themselves.

Speaking at the First year anniversary African Association of Young Insurance Professionals at the 50th Afrucs Insurance Organization (AIO) Aniversary, Nairobi Kenya, Daniel, who led the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) and the industry out of the turbulent era, urged the young underwriters to make a creative difference in their career.

Daniel lauded the young Insurance professionals for their strong academic pedigree and their knowledge of information technology.

“I am particularly thrilled by the academic pedigree of your members, which has conferred a huge advantage on you, in addition to information technology which now propel the bulk of our business activities,” he said.

“I am happy to be identified with the African Association of Young Insurance Professionals on their first African Day Celebration. The association informed me of the pivotal role of the Group Managing Director of Africa Re and lead support of Munich Re and Nem Insurance of Nigeria. And to all other support not mentioned in my brief address, I have been asked to thank and appreciate you all, immensely.

Speaking further, Daniel recognized the association’s laudable vision, noting that its core values are of particular interest to him.

“I have also noted the association’s vision and mission statement, eloquently stated, but of special interest to me is your CORE VALUES containing elements such as Professional, Innovation, Creativity, Integrity, Leadership and Integration.

With the above advantages, it is incumbent on your members to make a creative difference in your Professional Career,” he added.

On the outlook for the association, the ex- NAICOM Commissioner urged the professionals to choose an area of specialisation in the fast widening insurance industry.which will be an imperative for advancement of the industry.

These areas include: Financial lines such as Cyber risks, BBB (Better Business Bureau). Others include PVT, Drone Insurance, energy and aviation, marine, specialised engineering risks, survey, satellite insurance.

“I look forward to some of you becoming specialists in the above areas, thereby carving a distinctive and distinguished identity for yourselves.”
