Trading in Lafarge, Guaranty Holding Shares Closes Friday Until…

Lafarge Africa Plc, and Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc said that the closed period for trading in their shares would commence from Friday, 1st July 2022 until 24 hours after their Unaudited (WAPCO) and Audited (GTCO) Financial Statements for the period ending 30th June 2022 are released. This is in line with the Company’s Insider Trading Policy and Rules of The Exchange. Meanwhile the Stock market closed flattish today despite gains in FBNH (+1.8%), FIDELITY (+4.9%), and DANGSUGAR (+1.9%) as the benchmark index printed at 51,802.48 (previously: 51,803.98) points. As such, YTD return was unchanged at 21.3% while market capitalisation moderated by ₦810.6m to ₦27.9tn. Trading activity was mixed as volume traded advanced 32.4% to 416.5m units while value traded slid 73.1% to ₦3.5bn.

Across our coverage sectors, performance was mixed albeit bullish as 3 indices gained, 2 lost while the Industrial Goods index closed flat. Gains in AIICO (+4.8%) and WAPIC (+2.5%) pushed the Insurance index up 0.5% to be the top gainer for the day. Trailing, the Consumer Goods and Oil & Gas indices advanced 0.1% a piece courtesy of buy interest in DANGSUGAR (+1.9%), ETERNA (+4.4%), and JAPAUL GOLD (+3.5%). Conversely, the Banking and AFR-ICT indices contracted 7bps and 4bps respectively on account of sell offs in ETI (-2.7%), UBA (-0.7%), and MTNN (-0.1%).

Investor sentiment, as measured by market breadth, strengthened to 0.04x (previously -0.13x) as 17 indices gained, 14 lost while 77 closed flat. In the next trading session, we expect mild gains in the market as investors hunt for bargains.
