Ereko marketers seek more security in Idumota over NURTW unrest

The Ereko marketers in the Idumota area of Lagos State are appealing to the State Government and Idumota Police division to provide adequate security for the community due to the recent fight within the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) which had led to four people being injured.

It was gathered that one of the NURTW top members in the State, Agboola Olanrewaju Hakeem, aka OKORO who is the Chairman of Idumota Tom Jones Kosoko and Treasurer Idumota units were attacked by unknown hoodlums days ago.

According to information, Okoro has allegedly fled the town due to a series of attacks on his followers. A source who pleaded anonymity hinted to us that on the 28th of July 2019 some armed unidentified men who covered their faces with masks attacked some of the Okoro boys around 8 pm in idumota and they were stabbed and rushed to the general hospital where they are still receiving treatments.

Investigation also revealed that due to election crisis back then the hoodlums’ target was Hakeem Okoro and not his boys, it was also gathered that Okoro defected to the opposition weeks to the election and this may be the course of the attack on his boys.

In a recent time, the Attacks has been going on, where most lives have been lost in this regard, the Community leaders urged the Lagos state Police to intervene and provide the Security measures to safe guide the Lives And properties of the People in the Areas.

The Ereko marketer’s mind is not at rest as they were yet to know Hakeem Okoro’s whereabouts since that day, so the marketers are using this medium to call the attention of Lagos state government for adequate security as peoples life is at risk in Martins area of Idumota Lagos.

All efforts to speak with NURTW officials leaders in the Idumota unit proved abortive at the time of filing this report.

The investigation is still going on to know the fact about his whereabouts and to meet all the leaders and overall chairman of the NURTW Idumota unit, to give us more details on Hakeem Okoro.
