Why we are after illegal tax collectors-BIRS

In its resolve not relax until all illegal tax activity is put to an end, the Task Force on illegal tax points has arrested four more culprits.

The executive chairman of the Benue State Internal Revenue Service (BIRS), Mr Andrew Ayabam while reacting to arrest on some illegal tax collectors across the state on Wednesday noted that apart from denying the government of such monies to be channelled for development, such activities are scaring the would-be investors away from the state on legitimate business.

He maintained that on assumption of duty, the service has terminated the earlier engagement of tax agents and any collecting tax agent still operating in the state will be arrested and be prosecuted according to Benue tax edict.

According to Mr Ayabam, normally was being restored at rural areas where the menace of illegal tax activities are most prevalence and called on Benue business partners to come over as peace and friendly tax environment has been created by the present administration.

Those arrested are one Ioriligh Msuegaa,  at Amalanga in Lesssel road Ushongo Local Government area and Samuel Orkanya at Tse Agundu, near Gboko General Hospital for operating illegal tax points.

Also arrested were Denen Yaaya and Aondoakaa Amough at Luga near Akpaher in Gboko Local Government Area while illegal tax points were also cleared at Baa and Ikyor in Konshisha Local Government area as illegal operators fled on sighting BIRS task force team.
