Fear grips Nigerians as Africa’s most populous nation records first Coronavirus death

Panic and fear have continue to grip Nigerians as the most populouse African nation has recorded her first death as a result of the deadly coronavirus.


The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) disclosed this on Monday on Its verified twitter page.
According to the agency, the case was a 67-year-old male who was a former Managing Director, PPMC Suleiman Achimugu died over night from coronavirus.
This unfortunate incident, makes him the first casualty in Nigeria, after returning from a medical procedure in the UK two weeks ago.


It was stated that he started exhibiting symptoms lastTuesday, after which the family reported to the NCDC, but allegedly took his blood specimen following a visit to his house but never got back to the family.


It was reported that as of yesterday afternoon, he was coughing profusely. So they called the NCDC to inquire about his results and eventually turned out positive.


According to report, he was picked up and rushed to Gwagwalada but couldn’t make it as he died at 2am this morning.


His family are currently under quartine in their house.
