The Yeye Atewewe of Ifoland, Chief (Mrs) Omobola Adeotan has said that she is interested especially in the girl child education.

This, she believed would curb unwanted pregnancies amidst young girls in school at tender ages, as well as The so-called …Baby Mothers (Baby Mamas),

The chief, disclosed this while speaking with journalists at the palace of Olu of Ifo, Oba Oladipupo, during his 15th coronation anniversary.

Mrs Omobola Adeotan, who is also a school principal of Methodist High(Junior) School, Ogun State was recently installed as Yeye Atewewe of Ifoland by HRM Oba Atanda Oladipupo.

Chief Adeotan, said she naturally has a special interest for her female pupils with the purpose of helping them to achieve their aims and dreams.

 According to her “Girl child is confronted with a lot of challenges while attempting to acquire education, as a female school principal I always pray to God to give me a direction and solutions to some of my female students’ challenges,  in order for them to be educated because women make the world aside home, so, female students need proper guidance from the beginning.

 Speaking further, she described education as a tool to unlock the potentials of girlchild, stressing that education should be taken seriously, as investments in the girlchild yields very high returns.

 Mrs Adeotan, however, reiterated that there is a need to go beyond giving girls access to education, they must be given qualitative education.

 She, therefore, advised parents and guardians to play a leading role, while charging them to always take good care of their children especially the females.

“Gone are the days that people say that there is a certain profession that only male can handle, but nowadays, we have female pilots, female engineers, female politicians, female educationists, female doctors, among many others. In fact, there is no profession that we don’t have female now”, she said.
