NDDC Audit: NDC bemoans looting of allocation to NNDC

The Niger Delta Congress whilst following the investigations going on at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), is not surprised by the damning revelations. The blatant looting of the crumby allocations to the agency by those who should be at the forefront of the people’s struggle against the plundering Nigerian state is shameful.

Today the Niger Delta region is saturated with signposts adorning the logo of the NDDC and announcing projects which have never seen the light of day, but for which millions and billions in Naira have been paid for, and have meandered their way to the personal bank accounts of people who claim to have the interest of the Niger Delta people at heart.

This despicable robbery of the Niger Delta peoples has not stopped at the federal government agencies; it can also be traced to government houses, state houses of assemblies, local government councils, and even the judiciary.

The NDC and the Niger Delta peoples are aware that in the brutal plundering of the Niger Delta, its peoples and its resources, the political leadership of the region has played the role of cowardly enablers and accomplices instead of protectors and emancipators.

This is visible from the fact that the Niger Delta region of this country currently accounts for the highest unemployment rate compared to other regions.

The NDC therefore wishes to inform the incompetent and acquiescing political leadership of the region, that a new day has come for the people. The Niger Delta peoples will no longer be observers in their affairs, and the people will one day sit in judgement over its political leadership. When the day finally arrives, the odds will be in favour of the people and the repercussions of this grave betrayal will be borne by those who chose to align and partake in the plundering of their own people.

It is not too late for the looting political class of the Niger Delta region to contemplate their ways and repent, put the interest of the region first and work towards a better life for the people of the region.
