Chinese firms donate protective equipments to FG

Two Chinese firms, China Great Wall Industry Corporation and China General Chamber of Commerce on Monday donated Covid-19 protective equipments and masks to the Federal Ministry of Finance Budget and National Planning.

In a statement by Yunusa Tanko Abdullahi, special adviser on Media and Communications to the Finance Minister, the firms described the gesture as part of  their efforts towards curbing the spread of Covid-19 in Nigeria.

 The two companies who have made the donations as part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR) towards the fight against the scourge in Nigeria, were received by Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mrs Zainab Ahmed.

Presenting the items to the Minister, Mr Ye Shuijin, President of the China General Chamber of Commerce, said the Chamber is a representative of all Chinese companies in Nigeria.

According to him, the donation is their own contribution to the fight against Covid-19 in the country and to assure Nigerians and other investors of the effort of government to curb the pandemic.

Receiving the donation, Mrs Ahmed commended the company and the Chinese government for its long-standing partnership and friendship.

According to the Minister, “China has met Nigeria at a point of its needs and we are proud of our relationship with China and we are unapologetic about it”.

She assured continued collaborations with the Chinese government as a developmental partner and pledged continuation of such relationship.

She also assured that the items would be judiciously deployed.

The items included personal protective equipment (PPE), facemasks, hand thermometers and thermal thermometers.
