APCON wants 63 new inducted fellows to uphold professionalism

The Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON) has inducted no fewer than 63 long-serving practitioners who have attained the highest level in the advertising practice in Nigeria into the fellow cadre of the advertising profession.

The induction ceremony was held at Radisson Blu Hotel in Lagos on Wednesday, 19th January 2022.

The APCON Registrar, Dr Lekan Fadolapo, while delivering the opening address congratulated the new inductees, and urged them to continue to promote the ideals of the profession.

He, therefore, pledged his unflinching determination to support practitioners by making the business and practice of advertising favourable to all stakeholders.

Fadolapo explained that the inductees met all the stipulated requirements by law and have attained the highest and most distinguished class in the profession.

According to him, “In the course of my two-and-a-half decades in this industry, I have known each of the inductees personally and I have worked with virtually every one of them in different capacities and therefore I can attest that none of the fellows inducted today lacked the professional aptitude to be designated as such

“I am proud to affirm that all of them are eminently qualified to be in the category which they are today made to be”, he said.

While addressing the inductees, he stated: “I am optimistic that with the status that comes with your elevation in the advertising industry, you will diligently represent the profession in all progressive ramifications and resourcefully apply your position to promote the best interest of the profession.”

“APCON is committed to providing you and every advertising practitioner with conducive business and professional grounds to make sure that the practice and business of advertising in Nigeria are conducted in an ethical manner without compromising best practices,” he added.

The event was graced with the presence of Nigeria’s “Father of Advertising” and CEO Troyka Holdings Limited— Biodun Shobanjo; Chairman of STB McCann and former Chairman of Zenith Bank, Sir Steve Omojafor; Heads of Sectoral Groups including Femi Adelusi, Media Independent Practitioners Association of Nigeria (MIPAN)

Others are Steve Babaeko, President, Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN); Tunji Adeyinka, Experiential Marketers Association of Nigeria (EXMAN); Idorenyen Enang, President, National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN); many more notable advertising professionals.

Consequently, inductees expressed their appreciation for the distinguished honour which represented a recognition of their professionalism and impact over the years.
