Agip Oil Company a subsidiary of Agip operating in Nigeria, has said that it is committed to the welfare of its host communities, promising that it would work to improve the living standard of oil communities where it operates.

NAOC made this promise, while handing over a 700 meters road and drainage by the firm and its Joint Venture Partners, to Omoku Community, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Speaking, the General Manager, District, Giordana Crema, noted that Agip has always pursued deliberate policies to aid the development of its host communities, adding that the project would go a long way to sustain the cordial relationship between the firm and Omoku communities. Crema, who was represented by a Senior Public Relations Officer in the firm, Peter Onita, urged host communities to always seek dialogue as tools for resolving conflicts in every area of the existing relationship.

He said “NAOC as a company has always pursued a deliberate policy of developing its host communities through the provision of various amenities such as the 700m Asphalt road and drains we are commissioning today and will continue to pursue these lofty objectives, with the aim of continually improving the living standards in our host communities. It is our believe that the road project will go a long way in alleviating the difficulties in transportation within Omoku Town. We also believe that the project will further strengthen the existing good relationship between us and the good people of Omoku Community. We, therefore, use this occasion to urge the community to continue to sustain the enabling environment for the operations of the JV partners in the interest of all stakeholders.

“We want to reiterate that our commitment of empowering our host communities will continue to be a cardinal aspect of the company’s Stakeholders Management Policy, SMP.” However, receiving the certificate of the completed road, the Chairman, Omoku City Council of Chiefs, His Royal Highness, Eze Michael Olowu, the Ochioha of Obohia, commended the firm for completing the road project.
