The Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) in Kwara State has cancelled election results from Tsaragi polling Unit 10 in Edu local government area of the state.

The INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Kwara, Malam Garba Attahiru-Madami, disclosed to journalists on Sunday.

According to him, the cancellation was due to the snatching of ballot boxes by hoodlums during last Saturday’s  Presidential and National Assembly elections.

Attahiru-Madami added that the cancellation was in line with the rules guiding the conduct of the general election.

The REC said that out of 2, 887 polling units in Kwara State, only one polling unit had its ballot box snatched.

Attahiru-Madami however said it was not true that the Commission used vehicles belonging to one of the political parties to distribute electoral materials.

The REC attributed the late arrival of INEC personnel, and materials to some parts of the Ilorin West local government area on Saturday to logistics.

He added that this accounted for hitches in the commencement of voting at the Registration Area Centre (RAC), adding that this led to the extension of voting to 6 pm in the evening.

“It took us up to 11 a.m. before we finished the distribution of logistics and immediately I knew we are starting late, I extended the time of voting until the last person in queue voted,” he added.

Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress (APC) was leading in the results so far announced from INEC Collation Center.
