The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) announced another power interruption at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) on Friday.

The notice was reportedly made to avoid the controversy that followed the three-minute power outage that occurred at the International Airport about one week ago.
Obiageli Orah, FAAN’s spokesperson, stated on their website that today’s power outage would only last a few minutes, saying it was because they needed to test their power equipment to ensure it functions properly.

The message said: “To serve you better, we’re testing our power equipment at Murtala Muhammed International Airport today. This means the power will be off for a short time this afternoon.”

SaharaReporters had reported how Nigerian travellers lamented and lambasted President Bola Tinubu’s government over a power outage at the International Airport.

A viral video making the rounds on social media shows how travellers and others at the airport experienced a blackout on Friday night, leaving them to wallow in darkness for some minutes.

Lambasting the Nigerian government in the viral video, a man who said he was travelling to the United States recorded the video, saying, “Here we go. This is a Nigerian airport. We just lost light. Only in Nigeria is where an airport will lose power. People are moving in the dark, and we think we are not going anywhere.”
